APP-V 5 Management Servers Can't Interact With DataBase (Login Failed)

Posted: 08 Dec 2012 10:21 AM PST

Hello, I have a APP-V 5 environment in which I cannot get the Management Server to communicate with the DB Server. When I log into the Management Server web portal, I get a red banner across the web page that reads

There were problems interacting with the database on the server. The error was: Login failed for user 'LABENV\MSERVER1$'.

The management server is on Windows Server 2012 (as is everything). I have tried against a SQL2008 and SQL2012 server, and get the same error.

The APPV DBs have installed fine on the DB servers.

BTW 'MSERVER1' is the management server name, not a user name..... Is it trying to login with a machine name and not a user name? Could that be the issue?

Better detection in 4.6SP2

Posted: 08 Dec 2012 09:17 AM PST

You just gotta love how Microsoft sneaks things in. 4.6SP2 is pretty much a rollup of hotfixes (almost all of them since 4.6SP1 came out), plus support for Windows 8, Server 2012, and additional client changes for transitional dual client scenarios with App-V 5. As always, you should check the Readme documentation for details, but [...]

App-V 4.6* and the case of the bad URL

401   We ran into this in our Masters Level App-V Training class this week. We love to try things "outside the box" in these classes because we always learn more. Thanks to Mike from the UK for coming up with this one! When we sequence a package, the sequencer goes to great lengths to translate [...]
