Shortcuts remove but Cache remains Posted: 09 Jul 2012 08:51 AM PDT I didn't see anybody who had this issue before online so while I'm looking into it myself I thought I'd ask. I just noticed this morning on my 64-bit Windows 7 machines. When I remove an AD group from having access to an application and the client gets refreshed the applications shortcuts are removed from the users machine. However, the application still appears within the APP-V Client and in the cache folder e.g. C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Application Virtualization Client\SoftGrid Client\AppFS Storage I checked on my Windows 7 32-bit machines and I do not see this issue. I have all 6 Hotfixes applied to 4.6SP1. The only error in the 64-bit log is: The Application Virtualization Client report data cache could not be sent to Publishing Server URL Which as I understand it, should not be causing this issue I am seeing. Has anybody come across similar behavior? Am I overlooking something simple. Choice of App-V hosting platform from the End User view between RDSH/Terminal Server and local. Posted: 09 Jul 2012 03:24 AM PDT Hi all, in the App-V forums I don't see a sub-forum that quite matches this question. Before we sequence an application we plan where it will be "installed" so the user can access the app. We have a bunch of pros and cons when installing to a Citrix XenApp Terminal Server versus a local install to the user's App-V client. Where I am unsure is in the usability. If an App-V virtual app on the local PC needs to call something physically installed, e.g. MS Excel, that is no problem. If an App-V virtual app needs to interact with another virtual app then we DSC them. All OK. Does the user have the same experience when receiving an app published on a Terminal Server ? I assume for DSC to work both apps in the Suite need to be hosted on the same server. Will the published App-V app experience be the same as a local App-V experience ? Many thanks D This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
