Release: Veeam Backup & Replication 6.5

Posted: 09 Oct 2012 06:26 PM PDT

At the VMworld in Barcelona 2012, Veeam announced the release of Veeam Backup and Replication 6.5, the backup product for VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V.

Veeam, developer of virtual infrastructure management and data protection products, just few days ago announced support for Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V. Veeam Backup & Replication 6.5 will be available in Q4 2012.

Among the new features of this release, besides the support for VMware vSphere® 5.1 and Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V, we can find:

  • Veeam Explorer for Exchange
  • Veeam Explorer for SAN Snapshots:
  • Advanced Monitoring and Reporting

Ratmir Timashev, President and CEO, Veeam Software declares about the new release:

The new Veeam Backup & Replication 6.5 extends Veeam's leadership in the virtualization data protection market. Veeam's agentless backup and replication solution specifically built for virtualization was once considered niche, but now is the mainstream as virtualization itself. According to Gartner as of mid-2012, more than 50% of x86 architecture workloads have been virtualized on servers and this number will grow to 75% by 20141. Organizations now run their most critical applications and services on VMs, making guaranteed quick recovery essential to ensure business continuity.
