Posted: 13 Nov 2012 01:47 AM PST

VMware has released version 9.0.1 of its desktop virtualization platform Workstation. This maintenance release can be installed on top of version 9.0 which was released in August this year.

The 9.0.1 update (build 894247) adds support for Ubuntu 12.10 as a host and guest and Solaris 11 as a guest OS. Besides this some issues are resolved, like the ability to mount a .vmdk file as a drive by right-clicking the file in File Explorer and use of more memory on host systems having more than 4 GB of memory as detailed in the release notes.

Release: VMware Fusion 5.0.2

Posted: 12 Nov 2012 11:58 PM PST

VMware last week updated its desktop virtualization platform for Apple Mac to version 5.0.2 (build 900491). This version is the follow up of version 5.0.1 which was released in September this year and is intended to be used on top of the major release version 5 released in August.

Version 5.0.2. is a so called maintenance release, meaning that only issues are solved and no new functionality is introduced. The main issues solved are USB 3.0 stability and graphic improvements when running Microsoft Office 2013 preview, the full list of issues solved can be found in the release notes.

Corrupt setup files for AppV 5.0

Posted: 12 Nov 2012 03:40 PM PST

Hey,

So I've just downloaded Appv5 RTM, however, I mount the ISO, attempt to run APPV_SERVER_SETUP.exe and I'm presented with 'The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable'.  So to see if this was a one-off, I downloaded the ISO again, same error.  I expand the ISO to another location, with the same results.  The only .exe usable on this ISO is for the client.

Anyone else experience this?

Cheers

Hello,

we are using APP-V 4.6 in our network.

Is it possible to use the APP-V 4.6 Management Server simultaneously as Management Server for APP-V 5?
Or are there known issues when I install the APP-V 5 Management Server on the same machine?!
