| APP-V 5.0 Single Download, Multiple Users Posted: 21 Jan 2013 02:18 PM PST Hi All I'm hoping someone can help me with this particular issue. I have distributed an application and it appears on the clients desktop fine however, I only want the application to download once to the client computers but also be available to the authorised users. I know the application downloads multiple times because I used a packet sniffer to monitor what was going on. I created a GPO with settings for the publisher and that worked fine, and I have also set the 'Package Installation Root' to '%programdata%\App-V\' which appears to deploy the app to that directory and it is accessible, however the shortcuts deployed to the users desktop point to the '%LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\AppV\Client\Integration\' directory which also contains a copy of the application. I also tried configuring the 'Integration Root Global' as it states 'Specifies the location where symbolic links are created to the current version of a globally published package.' but that has made no difference. | App-V Hotfix for Black Screen upon login (Article 2590550) Posted: 21 Jan 2013 08:58 AM PST Hey guys, we had an issue as described in the article number listed in the title whereby once a Windows 7 PC hit the desktop after login it would only show a black screen with a notification balloon to say services had failed to start. Here is the link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2590550 Anyway, my question is this - I have started deploying App-V 4.6 SP2 as standard on our Windows 7 build - I assumed the above hotfix would be included... however... after building several PCs and logging in I have encountered the dreaded black screen as above. Can I assume then the above hotfix is not included? Are hotfixes not included because its only recommended to install them when you encounter the issue specified? On January 17 Parallels announced that Cisco has made a not yet quantified equity investment in the company. Parallels, well known for its desktop virtualization software, said that the investment is intended to accelerate costumer adoption of Parallels cloud service delivery products in synergy with Cisco cloud and data center solutions.

| Posted: 21 Jan 2013 08:15 AM PST 前回のブログエントリでは「百聞は一見にしかず」と言う諺を引用し、とにかくAppDNAを動かしてその実力のほどを試していただきたいと言うことを訴えました。そしてそのために、「パソコン１台用意していただければ必ずAppDNAを動かせる」ことを狙った、日本語簡易構築ガイドの公開をお知らせしております。もう既にたくさんの方々にこのガイドをダウンロードしていただいているようで、反響の大きさに身の引き締まる思いであります。 さて一方で、検証用のパソコンを用意して動かすよりも先に、「とにかく動いているところを見てみたい」とお考えのお客様も多いことかと思います。加えて、まさにこれからAppDNAをインストールしようとされていたとしても、その前に一度実際に動いているところをご覧になれば、ご自身が使われる上でのイメージも掴みやすいのではと思います。 そんな皆様のご要望にお答えするAppDNAの「デモ動画」が、インターネット上では既に多数公開されているのです！！ とは言っても2013年1月現在では、それらのほとんどが英語ナレーションで解説されたもので、日本語のものは残念ながら存在しません。もちろん日本語解説付きの動画コンテンツも今後続々作ってインターネット上にアップしていくつもりではあります。取り急ぎ今回のエントリでは、既に公開されている代表的なデモ動画を紹介し、文字ベースの日本語による解説を加えてみたいと思います。 たくさん公開されているデモ動画のうち、まず最初にご覧になっていただきたいのはこちらです。 （URLか画像のクリックで、動画サイトにジャンプします） http://www.citrix.com/tv/#videos/6002 4分11秒のデモ動画なのですが、AppDNAを実際に利用する際の流れを、短時間でうまく表しています。その「流れ」とは、下記のようなものになります。 1) アプリケーションのインポート 2) アプリケーションの分析 3) 分析レポートの参照 ここからは動画のスクリーンショットに合わせて、解説させていただきましょう。 ＜0:00～0:21＞ この画面は、AppDNA起動直後に現れる、いわゆる「ダッシュボート」の画面です。ここでは、分析したアプリケーションの数や、分析したアプリケーション互換性の全体傾向など、ハイレベルな情報を表示しています。画面中に緑・黄・赤で色分けされた棒グラフが表示されていますが、それぞれが「動作可能なアプリケーション(緑)」、「注意が必要なアプリケーション(黄)」、「現状では動作不可なアプリケーション(赤)」の割合を示しています。 ここでひとつ注意いただきたいことがあります。デモ動画で示されているダッシュボードは少し古いバージョンのもので、最新バージョンのダッシュボード画面は、少しデザインの変わったものになっていることにご注意ください。 ＜0:22～1:39＞ この時間の一連の画面では、アプリケーションのインポート手順を示しています。Windowsアプリケーションの互換性を分析する場合、分析対象のアプリケーションのインストーラファイルを指定することで、そのアプリケーションをAppDNAに「インポート」します。動画では、複数のMSIファイル（マイクロソフトインストーラ形式のインストーラファイル）を指定してインポートしています。もちろん、インストーラがMSI以外のWindowsアプリケーションや、WebアプリケーションもAppDNAにインポートし、分析することが可能です。 ＜1:40～1:52＞ この時間の一連の画面では、インポートしたアプリケーションを「分析」するための手順を示しています。アプリケーションとの互換性を調べたいOSプラットフォームを選択したうえで、「Analyze」ボタンを押すことで分析が始まります。 なお動画デモでは、あっと言う間に分析が完了していますが、実際の分析ではかなりの時間を要することにご注意ください。かなりの長時間が必要なほど、AppDNAはアプリケーションの細部の細部まで分析をしています。 ＜1:53～2:34＞ この時間の一連の画面では、分析結果の概略レポートを示しています。縦軸にインポート・分析したアプリケーションの一覧が並び、横軸に「Windows 7」や「XenApp」などのOSプラットフォームが並んでいます。その軸が重なったところに表示される、「緑」「黄」「赤」のアイコンが、アプリケーションとOSプラットフォームの互換性になります。 ＜2:34～3:04＞ この時間の一連の画面では、「アクションビューレポート」と呼ばれるレポート画面を示しています。「アクションビューレポート」とは、見つかった互換性の問題に対して取るべきアクション（対策）を提示したレポートのことです。実は、互換性に問題のあるアプリケーションでも、Windows OSの様々な機能を用いることで（アプリ自体の改修をしなくても）動作可能になるケースが多いことが分かっています。その「Windows OS機能の使いこなしかた」を説明していることが、このレポートの最大のポイントです。 画面では、左右二つの円グラフが見えますが、左の円グラフが何も対策を施さない時点での緑・黄・赤の割合で、右の円グラフが対策実施後の緑・黄・赤の割合です。対策実施後、「緑（動作可能なアプリケーション）」の割合が一気に増えていることが分かります。 ＜3:05～＞ この時間以降の一連の画面では、AppDNAが提供可能な様々な詳細レポートが示されています。「詳細」レポートと言うだけあって、アプリケーションの互換性とその対策に関する本当に詳細な情報が書かれており、これはさすがに動画で中身までお伝えするのは難しいところです。 AppDNAの詳細レポートの有効性をご確認いただくためには、是非とも日本語簡易構築ガイドをダウンロードして、ご自身の目でお確かめください。 2013年1月22日 シトリックス・システムズ・ジャパン株式会社 山田晃嗣  | ||

| Apps not listed on Virtual Application Management console in Terminal Server Posted: 21 Jan 2013 05:23 AM PST Hi Experts, I was trying to deploy app-v 5.0 in my testing environment. I installed (a) Database (b) Management server (192.168.1.61:8080) and (c) Publishing server (192.168.1.61:8081) on same server. This is windows server 2012. I have verified all url successfully. I had one app-v 4.5 sequenced package of Firefox. I converted this to .appv format (appv 5.0). Imported frm management server and created connection groups. associated applications and granted permissions for groups. I'm not getting any application on Client (AppVClientUX.exe). Any Idea/guide how to publish applications so that I can streaam If I do sync-Sync-AppvPublishingServer. I get below mentioned result. Id : 1
