Release: VMware ThinApp Factory

Last Week VMware ThinApp Blog announced the release of the new ThinApp Factory virtual appliance which can be used to automate the packaging of legacy Windows applications with VMware ThinApp and is free to all existing VMware ThinApp customers.

Based on Debian Linux offers a TomCat web based interface that presents an enhanced ThinApp package editor and a basic web based store that helps users to install their own applications. Supports manually uploaded installers, file share repositories as well as RSS-style app-installer feeds based on JSON format.

Release: VMware Horizon Application Manager 1.5

Last week the VMware End-User Computing team announced the release of VMware Horizon Application Manager 1.5.

Announced in various occasions as a core component of the VMware end-user computing portfolio, Horizon Application Manager is capable to manage Windows-based applications as well as public and private cloud applications in a centralized, policy-based way.

VMware Horizon Application Manager is available now as a virtual appliance with a wizard based setup and an integrated update service, the general availability also includes VMware ThinApp.

Release: VMware ThinApp 4.7.1

In April VMware released a minor upgrade for ThinApp 4.7, its application virtualization solution.

This release is worth to be reported because fixes a problem running multiple Office 2010 licensing services.

Quoting from VMware ThinApp Blog:

.. you're now able to run virtualized Project 2010 while Office 2010 being natively installed ..

The ability to remove the Sandbox on start of the package was also introduced.

Add APP-V 5 Beta Client Package: Exception from HRESULT: 0x80190191

When I try to add an APP-V Client package with powershell (add-appvclientpacke) I get this error: Exception from HRESULT: 0x80190191
