Microsoft today announced that it has made available downloadable VHD's for evaluating the Beta of System Center 2012 SP1, which it announced in September this year.

Since Service Pack 1 will provide support for Windows Server 2012 and Windows 8, it's much awaited by companies who want to start rolling out and manage Windows Server 2012 and Windows 8 using the System Center Suite. Microsoft expects to release Service Pack 1 in early 2013.

Paper: HP DBC Reference Architecture technical overview

Posted: 16 Oct 2012 02:09 AM PDT

HP has released a paper titled: "HP DBC Reference Architecture technical overview". The paper containing 55 pages details a reference architecture for database consolidation (DBC) provisioning, and running hundreds to thousands of I/O demanding workloads on a Microsoft private cloud. The DBC RA is based on a pre-tested, validated architecture design, thus eliminating the time-consuming tasks associated with designing, testing, and certifying the solution on-site. This can significantly lower the time to order the solution to when it is in place and ready to use by the business.

App-V (4.5) Error - 00000034

Posted: 15 Oct 2012 01:33 PM PDT

Hi all, I have an interesting situation. I have over 200 locations with App-V deployed and a particular app which works great at all but one location.

At this particular location when users try to launch the app they get the error "The Application Virtualization Client could not launch App. You were not connected because a duplicate name exists on the network. Go to System in Control Panel to change the computer name and try again." Error code : 45242F4-14200A2A-00000034.

I know I don't have a duplicate name as we have a very large A/D infrastructure and there are no other problems with these machines. I think it might be a red herring.

Has anyone else seen this and if so could you enlighten me?

One way of handling this issue is to add communications between…
