Softgrid Server service does not start when DB is shared Posted: 12 Aug 2008 09:47 AM PDT
Hi, I install SG 4.5 server (all three conponents) on a server and point it to an existing Database on different machine. Installation is completed with out any problems. And when I restart and launch the Consol I am able to see all the application which were in the existing DB.
However, the PROBLEM is the Server Service does not start. I get an error
"Windows could not start the application Virtualization Management Server on Local Computer. For more information, Review the System Event Log. If this is a non-Microsoft Service, Contact the service Vendor, and refer to service specific error code 268480357"
When I check the Eventlog it says
Failed to establish a connection to the data source: (Server: Database01, Database: APPVIRT).
The database has all the permissions and its working fine. BTW, I have connected two SG Server 4.5 to the same Database. The other server which is installed first and created the DB is working fine. When I install a second Server connecting to the same Database as first , the second server service would not start.
Is what I am trying correct? Can two SG Servers Share a single Database? I think Yes...The "Famous Loadbalencer" diagram of "Microsoft Softgrid Administration Training" shows that we can share a comman data base.
I have read the other posting on this forum and checked the User rights and other stuff. But no luck.
Please advice and help

Posted: 23 Oct 2012 06:42 AM PDT We have a small three computer peer to peer network in our small office. We just switched from three machines using XP to three machines using Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. We set up the Virtual PC and the Windows XP running withing Windows 7 Professional 64. We have a common shared drive that we are able to use in Windows 7. We have one program that is an old 32 bit that we rely on and would like to use in our Windows XP Virtual PC. In our Virtual Windows XP ,we are unable to see or access our printer or are unable to see or access data from our common drive that works in Windows 7 Pro 64. Is there some way to access our data we need for our old 32 bit program from the common drive and print it on the Canon laser we use?
