App v 5 Publishing Error 19104

Posted: 23 Nov 2012 01:16 AM PST

Hi,

When trying to sync with the publishing server I'm getting the following error in the App V Client Admin log:

Part or all packages publish failed.

Publish :0

Failed :2

Please check the error events of 'configure/publish package' before this message for the details of the failure.

There is no message before that, and in fact the operational log reports the publish starts and stops successfully, and has events that say the package was successfully configured in folder 'c:\programdata\app-v\etc'.

If I browse to the directory the app is indeed there. The apps I have at the moment are all converted 4.6sp1 apps from our old server, about 94 of them. (they all tested fine with the powershell command and converted with no errors.)

If anyone has any advice on what to do to solve this it would be much appreciated.

v5 admx files not included in APP-V RDS?

Posted: 23 Nov 2012 12:17 AM PST

Anybody know where Im supposed to find the admx template files in RTM release? In the beta it seems to have been installed in the sequencer directory but in the production version they are not? The docs tell me that : A) I should download it from MS Download Center http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj713463.aspx or B) Its in the sequencer directory http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj684299.aspx

I cant find them in either place, am I missing something?

XBAP Supoort for App-V

Posted: 22 Nov 2012 11:11 AM PST

Hello

I have received inquiry from clients that running App-V in their internal environment

My company provides XBAP application that is accessible from internet, and this client would like to put this XBAP into App-V

What they did is to virtualize the IE and have this IE to go to specific URL

The problem is once they hit the URL, that IE doesn't recognize the XBAP app at all (pop up show up asking if user want to save / open the XBAP file)

Anyone has experience on having XBAP app run inside App-V ?

App-V 4.6 SP2 and SP1 Hotfix 7

Posted: 22 Nov 2012 02:52 AM PST

Hello

The SP2 of App-v 4.6 don't include The Hotfix 7 (post SP1)

So, are we oblige to install it before updating to SP2, "or after?"

It is amazing to read that HF 8 replace HF7 and SP2 replace HF8, but SP2 do not include HF7!!

Thank you for your advice

AppV Management Servers - Server Groups

Posted: 22 Nov 2012 04:18 AM PST

Is it possible for an AppV Management Server to be a member of more than one group? and if not how can a server be moved from the default group to a new one?

We currently have 5 Management Servers, split between 3 sites, all configured for the content share on the same DFS root.

There is a requirement for some applications to be limited to 2 management servers (management servers on the same site, use the same DNS alias for appv purposes).  I am considering doing this by using the default server group for applications that are required everywhere and server groups for more restricted application distribution.  Another option if a server cannot be in 2 groups is not use an application group for apps required everywhere, just using a group where required.  Can't do this with user groups as the applications concerned need to be site based and users move between sites.

Is server groups the best option to achieve this?
