App-V content share DFS problem Posted: 17 Jan 2013 01:28 AM PST Hi We've just installed a second App-V Management server and setup NLB and DFS sharing of the content folder for resilience. Things were working perfectly to begin with but I've just noticed that for some bizarre reason some of the packages have been deleted from the content share on our original App-V server. Thankfully they all seem to be still intact on the new server we've built but If I try and copy one of the missing packages from the second server back to the original, it gets deleted by DFS immediately. I get the following message in the DFS logs: The DFS Replication service detected that a file was changed on multiple servers. A conflict resolution algorithm was used to determine the winning file. The losing file was moved to the Conflict and Deleted folder.
Additional Information: Original File Path: E:\App-V\App Virt Management Server\content\7ZIP.100 New Name in Conflict Folder: 7ZIP-{67534C81-1D16-47DA-87B2-24D281B9C145}-v268403.100 Replicated Folder Root: E:\App-V\App Virt Management Server\content File ID: {67534C81-1D16-47DA-87B2-24D281B9C145}-v268403 Replicated Folder Name: content Replicated Folder ID: 7F718F60-C560-4E39-817D-0A2A07E16263 Replication Group Name: AppV Replication Group ID: C02D9F3C-703F-4D81-AFFB-3C5ABD6CB23D Member ID: 39CDEE63-86E9-4CF9-9BD3-6F881ADBD05F Now I appreciate this is possibly just a DFS issue but wasn't sure if it was specific to App-V and the makeup of the content share. I've no experience of DFS and my colleague who setup the DFS replication seems pretty stumped by it. I wondered if anyone had seen anything similar using DFS replication for their content share? Is a publishing and/or management server required in a production environment? Posted: 16 Jan 2013 12:37 PM PST Hi I have the following scenario: In my test environment I have APP-V version 5 - I have a share with packages. - With a grouppolicy I have set the client to use shared content store. - With powershell I am distributing the packages. - When a user starts the application the package is streamed. My question is: Is this a supported configuration? (because I do not use a management or a publishing server) The reason is that I want to use RES Workspace Manager with powershell scripts to publish the applications.
